Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

There aren't too many hikes under ten miles where you can see four awesome waterfalls! It's not quite swimming weather yet, but we can dream about it as we visit the waterfalls in the Wildcat Campground area. This is a favorite hike of many. Anything with one waterfall is a dream, but four is a totally blissful hike!

The mostly out-and-back hike is just under ten miles with about 1500 feet of elevation gain. It's a scenic trail with a few water crossings and nice climbs, babbling creeks, and all within 35 miles from Windward Park & Ride.

Important note: There is a major water crossing that we will manuever both on the way there and the way back. Based on feedback from a recent AOC hike, we should be able to cross it without having to take our boots off (they were all able to make it just fine), but it requires rock hopping and holding on to a guide cable. So please be prepared, and based on your comfort level of tricky crossings, you may decide to change into water shoes to cross.

The hike will keep a moderate 2.5 MPH moving pace. We will lunch at the second waterfall. I've only done this hike once, so I'm making it "exploratory", but I have a very good memory of the route we will take (and I may check my GPS app a few times to make sure we stay on the route). If you love waterfalls, you will love this hike. And if you love swimming in waterfalls, consider this your scouting trip for the summer.

Here is a link to the route we will take:
https://www.plotaroute.com/route/370877&maptype=paths

Note that this area requires a GORP pass (unless you are 65 or older). I will make sure we have a group pass (or two, depending on our group size as a group pass is limited to 8 participants -- cost is $12.50 per group pass). Therefore it is imparative that we stay together as a group. If you can, I ask that you help me defray the costs with an optional $1 or $2 donation at the hike. But it's entirely optional and I won't mention it at the event.
