This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

We wanted to try and get out of town again on a weekday and check out a beautiful area of amazing waterfalls located so close to the city.  We did it recently and had a great time.  For this trip we will visit different areas than last time and will go see 'The Big One'!

We will head out from the campground and will see a few waterfalls eventually along the many trails in the area.  It will be necessary to cross the creek a few times going and coming.  So, be prepared for that.  Personally, I wear waterproof socks and gaiters and just walk through the water - I don't mind a little wet feet, temperature permitting.  You may certainly change into water shoes at the crossings if you like.

We will maintain a fairly slow pace at around 3 MPH.  I may want to snap some photo shots along the way.  We will plan to have lunch at one of the waterfalls.  We will be out on the trail for about 3 hours and want to get back to the carpool by 4:00.

I am listing it as exploratory because I have not been to some of the areas before or it has been a while.  We will potentially visit an off trail fall.

This is a GA DNR GORP fee pay area.  I do own an annual group pass.  So, if you could give me a buck to offset that cost, it will be appreciated!

In general, we just want to have a fun and relaxed mid-week nature explore and take in some wonderful falling water and hopefull some wildlife too.  We hope you can make yourself available for a fun day!

Here's a map of the trails from Google Maps.

Here's our photo album from last time that shows a river crossing.  FUN!

Here is info for the area.
