Join us for a scenic ride from Stone Mountain to the Krog Street Market on bike via the PATH Trail!
We will meet in downtown Stone Mountain at The PATH Trailhead OUTSIDE the park. The Trailhead parking is between Aztec Cycles and the police station. The address provided is for Aztec Cycles. We will ride 16 miles to the Carter Center then connect with the Beltline and ride approximately 2 miles to the Krog Street Market. We will ride at a 10 to 12 mph pace. We'll ride through Clarkston, Avondale Estates, Decatur, Candler Park and Inman Park on the PATH trail. We will stop at the Krog Street Market to use the restroom, get water or coffee if you wish.
For the majority of the time you do not need to contend with cars. That said, you will have some sections where you will be on the road. These roads are typically not very crowded on the weekends, but, just in cae, you need to be prepared for traffic and be comfortable riding on the road. This is NOT the Silver Comet Trail. Additionally there are many intersections which the Path Trail intersects the road. YOU MUST WEAR A HELMET (No helmet, no ride!)
After the ride we will have lunch at the Village Corner Restaurant in Stone Mountain Village if you wish to join us (optional).
Note: We will also be traveling on open roads for about 3 miles each way, so we will be staying together as a group during the ride. All riders are expected to obey all traffic laws while participating. Also there are rest rooms at Stone Mountain Park, but facilities along the route are limited.
|How to Get There:|
901 Main Street, Stone Mountain. The parking for The Path is in downtown Stone Mountain, OUTSIDE of the park, on main street between Aztec Cycles and the Police Station. Immediately after you pass Aztec Cycles, turn left into the parking area which is free.
