Itinerary:
Total distance should be approx 10.6 miles and total elevation gain roughly 1900 ft (700ft up Big/Little Kennesaw Mtns. twice plus general up/downs). Once we get warmed up, we will be hiking at a fairly quick pace ... roughly 3 mph avg on flats and go at your own pace on climbs to gather at the top... and trying to get a good workout in. So that is why this is categorized as a D4 rather than a D3.

We will start at the Visitors Center and start off hiking around the southeast side of the mtn. We will hike to the Cheatham Hill monument where we stop for lunch. On the way back, we will hike up over Pigeon Hill, Little KM and Big KM, before descending back down to the parking lot where we began.

Kennesaw Mountain is 1808 feet above sea level. It is approximately a 700 foot incline from the Visitor Center to the mountain's summit. Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield is a 2,923 acre park that preserves a Civil War battleground of the Atlanta Campaign. While walking some of the 17.3 miles of trails you will see historic earthworks, cannon emplacements and various interpretive signs. There are 3 monuments representing states who fought here.
