Itinerary:

Please make sure you are in good physical condition and don't have issues with elevation changes while carrying day packs. We'll be hiking at a moderate pace and the total distance is approximately 12 ½ miles.

I am inviting you to join us on a day hike to the Big Frog Wilderness, second try. Though there are no waterfalls or river crossings, if the day is clear, then we'll see some awesome mountain views from the ridges and the top of Big Frog Mtn.

Big Frog Mountain sits at 4224 ft. in elevation, which is our lunch destination. We’ll begin our 6 mile gradual uphill climb at the Licklog Ridge Trailhead (1740 ft elevation). During the hike if weather permits, we will be able to see our destination across the ridge, so close, but yet so far. After about 5.75 miles we will pass the "water source", however this is usually just a trickle or completely dry so plan on bringing enough water. Shortly after the "water source" we will arrive at the top of Big Frog Mountain and have lunch. Unfortunately, no scenic views here, but we will be on top! After lunch, we will continue on the Big Frog Trail decending down the ridge until we fork off on the Fork Ridge trail and then hit the Rough Creek Trail. From here we will hike down to Rough Creek. We will break here to filter water if needed before we get back on the trail. We will have to cross the creek here, but don't worry we have been able to rock hop it in the past, just make sure your shoes are waterproof! Heading up hill we will dead end back into the Lick Log Trail and then finish our loop to the trail head. Total distance is around 12.5 "ish" miles
