Itinerary:

Please join me for a relaxing hike on Father's Day morning. This event encompasses 5-6 miles of hiking in and around the Vickery Creek park in Roswell, including a small amount of urban exploration. It also incorporates an optional early lunch at Moxie Burger. Dogs are welcome!

Details of our itinerary are below, but please note that we will do the entire event as a group -- including the lunchtime stop. So if you're not interested in stopping for an early lunchtime break this event is not a good match. (You don't have to buy lunch at Moxie Burger, but you will need to hang out with the group.)

Our pace while moving will be moderate (maybe 2.5 mph or so on average) -- which some members may find fast and others may find boring. This is not a fitness hike, but I don't tend to dawdle when my feet are moving.

Details

We'll meet at the Oxbo Road trailhead, which features free parking, and head into the Vickery Creek forest at 9:15am. We'll explore the interior of the park, visit the dam, and eventually wind our way to the covered bridge and the mill.

From there we will make the short climb to the back deck of Moxie Burger, where we'll enjoy an early lunchtime break together.

After our lunchtime break, we'll walk back down the hill and take the trail along the other side of the dam. We'll continue into the adjoining neighborhood (one of my favorite parts of this hike), making our way back to our cars at Oxbo Road.

Group Size. The plan is to keep the group maximum relatively small to limit the impact at the restaurant. We'll plan to arrive early to beat any crowd, but we don't want to overwhelm them (both for their sake and ours).

About Moxie Burger. Moxie Burger features a wonderful covered deck at the top of the hill above the Roswell Mill entrance to Vickery Creek. Dogs are welcome on the deck. They have a wide variety of burger options that you can customize in just about any way imaginable, including non-beef protein choices such as turkey, chicken, and vegetarian. They also have sharable fries (including popular sweet potato fries) and other sides. Prices are inexpensive.
