Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:
***The hike will start at 11:15 AM so please plan on meeting around 11:00 AM to sign in***

Kennesaw Mountain National Battefield Park is a fantastic area for intown hiking and fitness training.
.
We will meet and start the hike at Burnt Hickory Rd Crossing. We will hike the east trail loop (2.2 miles) to Dallas Highway Road. From there we will hike the west trail loop (.7 miles) to Cheatham Hill. From Cheatham Hill we will hike the east trail loop (2.8 miles) to Kolbs Farm where we will take a 15 minute snack/water break (maybe even a few push ups) From Kolbs Farm we will head back up the west trail loop (2.5 miles) to Cheatham Hill, the west trail loop (.7 miles) to Dallas Highway and finally take the west trail loop (1.5 miles) to Burnt Hickory Road.

The total hiking distance is about 10 miles with minimum rest. Because the trail is fairly flat we will hike at a quick pace of 2.5-3 mph. Endurance is the name of the game today- you should be in good to excellent condition!!! Please note this hike is rated exploratory because I have hiked the trails in segments but not in one through hike as we will today.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:I-75 North to Exit 269, Barrett Parkway; turn left off the exit onto Barrett Parkway; travel approx 3 miles and turn left onto Old Hwy 41; at the next light turn right onto Stilesboro Road; the park visitors center is immediately on your left. Continue on Stilesboro Road past the vistors center and take a right hand turn on Old Mountain Road. Old Mountain Rd dead ends where it intersects with Burnt Hickory Rd. Here you will find parking along the road. If neccessary we can car shuttle to the vistors center and back if the parking on Burnt Hickory Rd. is limited.
