This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Please join me for my first visit to Chattahoochee Bend State Park. (EXPLORATORY HIKE) - as the name implies this GA State Park is on a bend in the Chattahoochee River.  We will be hiking the Bend Trail, Riverside Trail and Turkey Hill Trail.  Much of the hike is along the banks of the river.

Will aim for 12 miles in about five hours - not a leisurely pace but not super fast either.  Mileage/time may be over/under.  A couple very brief water breaks and a 15 min. extended lunch break about midway through the hike.

I would love to spot an armadillo - Google research - " Armored armadillos are a common sight on the trail, often oblivious to the presence of hikers as they dig and forage for grubs".  I have never seen a live one - only flattened on the highway - hope we see at least one.

Pack a lunch and plenty of liquids

There is a $5.00 fee for entry into a GA State Park - please bring cash OR if you have a GA Parks annual pass display in your vehilce.
