Itinerary:
Beech Creek Trail is in the Southern Nantahala Wilderness.This hike can have a shuttle or not. The shuttle is about 1/2 mile apart from the start. We will walk counter clockwise. It start almost immediately climbing and crosses Beech Creek severaltimes. We will view High Falls about 1/4 mile off trail. From there we will hike up Scaly Mountain take a side trail to the summit of Scaly Mountain for a great over view of the valley below and maybe see Brasstown Bald. We will have lunch at Case Knife Gap. From there we will continue to Chimney Rock after we climb on Chimney Rock we will continue onBeech Creek Trail to the parking lot. If we do not have shuttle set up we will walk 1/2 mile back to our car. Total miles 7

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From Indian Trail Park and Ride get back on I-85 North to I-985 into Clayton. Turn onto Hwy 76 West for about 1/2 mile to Persimmon Road follow Persimmon Road 4 miles turn left onto paved Tallulah River Road (FS 70)This will cross border into North Carolina. Parking Lot for Beech Creek Trail ins on your left marked by a number (378)Forest Service Sign

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $102.40 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

No Alcohol While we are hiking. If mileage is wrong we will adjust later.
