Itinerary:

We will begin our hike at the overflow parking lot. We will make two loops around the park and over to the lake to give us a total of 5 miles for our outing. We will stop a couple of times throughout the park to regroup and to take sips of water. For those that need to, there is a porto potty near the Pavillion, which will be one of our stops when we start our 2nd loop.

Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early for introductions, so we can take off promptly at 9:00.

This will be an easy hike (Gayle calls it a roller coaster hike) with slight elevation changes. Beginner's are welcome.

Leita Thompson Memorial Park has some beautiful trails throughout the park. The trails wind through the woods, offering us plenty of shade from the blistering sunrays. The trails are also well-maintained, so we will not have to worry about tripping over roots or rocks while we keep a moderate pace.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

From Atlanta, take GA 400 north to exit 7B Holcomb Bridge Rd. Continue west on Holcomb Bridge for 5.7 miles, at which point you will make a sharp right turn. This is the entrance for the Dog Park/Art Center.  After you turn, make an immediate left to the gravel "overflow" parking lot.

If you miss the 1st turn, you can take the next right. This is the main entrace where the Pavillion is located. You can either park there and walk up the dirt road (on the right when you pulled in), or drive up the dirt road to the "overflow" parking.

Notes:

* Optional * After the hike, if anyone is hungry (or just want to hang out), we can grab a sandwich at Panera Bread or somewhere else nearby that we can agree on.

* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.
