From there, we will hike on the Applachian Trail to Blood Mountain, where we take break and have lunch, We then return on the Slaughter Creek trail to Lake Winfield Scott.

Lake Winfield Scott was completed in 1942 by the Civilian Conservation Corps.  The lake and all of it’s buildings, roads and structures are the work of the Corps and remains intact today.

Overall, the hike will be around 8 miles with some strenuous climbing at a moderate pace.  Approximate elevation gain for this hike is 2,000 ft.

We will stop at all of the major turns/crossroads to keep the group together and take necessary water breaks.

We expect approximately 4.5 - 5.hours of hiking.
