Itinerary:

Cheoah Bald is also known as the “Grandstand of the Atlantic” due to the beautiful views, and it is the tallest peak in the Cheoah Mountains of southwestern North Carolina.

From the start, the trail climbs the entire way up to Cheoah Bald, for an elevaton gain of 3,400" in 5 miles.  The trail is mostly along Ledbetter creek with several rock hopping water crossings, and passing by the 30 foot Bratram Falls.  There will be plenty of opportunities to refill your water until the last mile, so all your water will have to brought up to the Bald.

Cheoah Bald is above Nantahala Gorge, with the view of many mountain ranges.  Nantahala Mountains, Chunky Gal Mountain, Tusquitee Mountains, and Valley River Mountains in the Nantahala National Forest.

Dogs are allowed but they should be on leash at the campsite.  After enjoying the sunrise and breakfast, we'll head down the trail this time and be back in Atlanta at a reasonable time.
