Itinerary:

Dozens of visual works of art from local to international artists have transformed the Atlanta BeltLine into a linear gallery space. In addition to the more than 35 permanent Beltline exhibits we've enjoyed along the Eastside Beltline railroad corridor, over 40 new, dynamic art installations have been erected.  These new installations are temporary and will be on display only through November 2017; so grab this chance to see the spectacular displays on a leisurely walk with fellow AOC members.

The Beltline hike is flat, so elevation change will not be a problem.  The total distance of our walk will be about 8 miles.  We'll be walking at a very comfortable pace and stopping frequently to appreciate all the exhibits we pass. Distance will be the only challenge for people who are new to hiking.

We'll gather behind the Publix supermarket  (parking lot on the back right) off Monroe Avenue (see street address and coordinates below) and access the Beltline behind the supermarket, where we'll travel north past Piedmont Park.  We'll check out the new Ponce City Market and then check out the art along the new extention area to Memorial Drive before making our way back to the Krog Street Market, which has a wide variety of great food offerings. We'll stop there for lunch, ice cream, pastry, or just a drink, and then, we'll head back, taking a different route (and faster pace) through Piedmont Park, where we'll see sights like the educational garden and the dog park.

OPTION:  Those wanting to get home faster and not take the return walk back from Krog Street Market may opt to take Uber or Lyft back to their cars after lunch.  This would cut their hike to about 4 miles.

Bring your camera or plan to use your cell phone for the many photo opportunities you'll have.
