The forecast is miserable for Saturday PM, so we are changing out backpacking trip into day hike. Want to get some beautiful views and fresh air? The hike is approximately 12 miles round trip. Starting at Trackrock Gap (2280 ft), the trail immediately climbing 1500 ft to Roost Ride. Following the ridge eastwards, we will pass Chimneytop Mtn (mile 4.4) to Brasstown Bald (mile 6.1; 4738 ft). After a short break, we will retrace our steps back to the trailhead.

water/sports drinks

hiking boots / trail shoes

non-cotton clothes in layers

down / synthetic jacket (to stay warm during breaks)

rain gear / wind breaker (just in case...)

snacks and lunch

change of clothes after hike
