Itinerary:

Wintertime on the AT....well, not quite where we wanted to be for this event, but 441 is already closed and we want to put this winter gear to use. Woody Gap to Blood Mountain...take a few obligatory photos and head back down to the Woods Hole Shelter to set up camp for a brisk 12° night.

Required Items to Bring:

The usual for a winter backpacking trip -- if I have to tell you what to bring, please do not sign up. We will be staying at one of the shelters. These are open wooden structures but offer little extra comfort.

I will bring a white-gas stove (please be aware that regular gas stoves will likely fail in cold weather conditions), so we can all boil water for dinner, hot drinks, etc...

...only you know how much (or how little) you will need to pack to maintain a strong stride, stay healthy, hydrated and warm!

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $48.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

This is an all-weather trip...matter of fact it'll be even more epic in wintery conditions, are you game?
