Itinerary:

Let's combine treks in two of the CRNRA units into one hike.  For this hike we will hike in both the Cochran Shoals/ Interstate North unit and Power's Island unit of the CRNRA, crossing the Chattahoochee river on the Interstate North Parkaway bridge between the two units.

We will meet  at the Powers Island parking lot located at Riveredge Lane, Sandy Springs, GA (site of the NOC outpost).  Street address is 5450 Interstate North Parkway, Sandy Springs, GA.  This is a CRNRA unit so parking is $5 (or use your annual CRNRA pass).  This location does have bathroom facilities.

Our Trek

We will head first across the river and enter the Chochran Shoals/ Interstate North unit and start by hiking out the Multi use trail.  After about 1/2 mile we will turn left into the Interstate North trails and experience what they have to offer.  There is one sustained climb of about 200 feet gain, and nearly reaching Power's Ferry road.  After decending, we will cross a boardwalk over a swamp before reaching the multi-use trail and heading back to Interstate North parkaway.

We will cross back to the Sandy Springs side of the river and begin exploring the Powers Island unit.  We will do a loop up to the ridge line and through an English Ivy cove before decending back to the river.  After following the river downstream we will arrive back to the parking lot where we started.  If time permits we may also walk across the pedestrian bridge to Powers Island itself and circle the island before ending our hike back at the parking lot.
