Itinerary:

Want to get in a strong hike but stay close to home on Saturday?  Join us for a Saturday morning hike at the East Palisades section of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. We'll start at 9 am. and finish before noon.

East Palisades is one of the most beautiful of all the CNRA units. It offers several miles of trails that connect to a scenic overlook that offers excellent views of the Devil's Race Course Shoals. We will hike over 6 miles including sections along the river as well as several steep, rugged areas at a moderate pace. This is NOT a good hike for beginners or for people who can't handle a lot of elevation change.

We will leave promptly at 9 am and will hike through most of the featured locations including the bamboo forest, the overlook deck, and the dog beach.  Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to get settled and for introductions.

Please remember to bring $5 cash for the National Park Service parking fee. Alternatively, it's a better deal to get an annual pass if you plan to visit any of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area parks more than 12 times over the next 12 months. Annual pass cost is $40.

The following is a link to get annual passes online.  https://www.pay.gov/paygov/forms/formInstance.html?agencyFormId=11655368

If you bring your dog, he/she should be able to keep up with the group and interact well with other dogs and people. The Chattahoochee NRA requires that owners keep their dogs on a leash and clean up after their pets on the trails. A maximum of three dogs will be permitted on this hike on a first to sign up basis.
