Itinerary:

C'mon out to Kennesaw Mountain, a local D5 with a twist! We'll be meeting in the overflow lot (arrive at the back area of the over flow lot on the left side- around 7:30a to check-in and do intros) and heading out to Big Kennesaw right at 7:45 a.m. We'll be going up and over to Burnt Hickory, back and over to the Visitors Center (pit stop as needed), then a final climb up and over again to regroup at the Burnt Hickory Road water fountain area. Then as a FULL group we'll head back on the Camp Brumby trail and cruise in to the visitor center as a complete crew of AOC'ers!

So we will have about 12.5 miles when it's all said and done, we will have gained about 3300' of elevation and burned enough calories for any meal you desire afterwards!

In short: up and over three times, re-grouping at the final turn at Burnt Hickory as we rock the rollers back along Camp Brumby Trail to the overflow lot.

This is not an all out assault on the mountains, but the pace should be steady to wrap up at Noon. After all it is a D5 and it is a challenge, please be sure you're ready for all of the climbing and descending Kennesaw has to offer...good fitness base is just as important as good shoes...so are some good layering techniques. You may not always be along side another AOC'er but I'll try to keep tabs on everyone before we re-group.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector

2) If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way.  You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.

3) You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it.  Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.

4) After crossing US 41 take a right at the first redlight which is Church Street Extension.

5) You should cross railroad tracks soon.

6) Take a left onto Old 41 at the second redlight.  If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.

7) Stay on Old US 41 until you pass in front of the mountain then turn left in to the Over Flow lot, it is just beyond the light to the Main Entrance. Meeting everyone toward the back part of the lot on the left side (as you come in to the lot).
