Unicoi Gap To Dick’s Creek Gap

Itinerary:

This will be a point to point hike, we will began by shuttling cars... dropping off some vehicles at Dick's Creek Gap. We also will have some vehicles at the Unicoi Gap parking lot .We then will start our hike and head east on the Appalachian Trail to climb Rocky Mountain and go over a elevation gain of 1100 ft and then down to Indian Grave Gap. Our hike will then carry us to Tray Mountain adding 1400 ft gain. Over the next 5 miles, their will be no major climbs this area is called the Blue Ridge Swag.We will be taking a lunch somewhere around Addis Gap.After lunch break we will hike our last major climb to The side of Kelly Knob & Double Spring Knob. Once hiking pass the knob's we will have a remaining of 4.3 miles to Dicks Creek Gap leaving us with a mild grade to finish! Total ascent is approximately over 4000 ft. You must have completed several recent high D5s and D6 hikes with the A.O.C. in order to sign up for this event. Michael and I will use our discretion in judging your ability to hike this event. The leader does resume the right to remove anyone if warranted for the safety of the group! If you are meeting us at the event.I will be counting on using your vehicle for shuttle if needed.Chuck R.& Michael P.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Go north on 400 from park and ride. When Ga 400 ends at the Shell Station,continue on Ga 115. Go 4.8 miles where Ga 115 meets Ga 52 turn right. Continue on Ga 115 before Cleveland and take a left to Appalachian Parkway for a short distance and then take a left on to Ga 129. A few miles you will turn right to alternate 75A and follow it to Ga 75 and turn left at a distance further up you will see Unicoi Gap parking on your right.
