Itinerary:

The Arkaquah Trail is one of the 3 trails that summits The Brasstown Bald (4,783 ft). It is one of North Georgia's steepest extended grades! We will park at the Track Rock Gap (2280 ft) parking lot just south of the Petroglyphs Rocks. This will be an out and back with blue blaze trail. Our hike will began at the Arkaquah Trail in the Brasstown Bald Wilderness. We will crest the Buzzard Roost Ridge at 1.5 mile with a Mountain travel of 1500 ft gain finishing the 12th switch back. Going east with a roller coaster of uphills and ridges with 4 Mountains ranging from 3600 - 4,300 ft with various terrains and rock formations. Included in this section will be Chimney Top at 4.4 miles. As we exit from the Rhododendrum patch at mile 5.5 we will enter the Balldgrounds parking lot where we will stop for bathrooms and then proceed to the summit. Once reaching the observation deck it will offer us a 360 view of 4 states - this is where we will be taking our lunch. After lunch we will re- trace our steps back to Track Rock Gap and go to our cars. Approximately Mountain travel is 4,000 ft gain. This is a Mountain hike if you have not completed recently 3-4 D4 & D5 over 10 mile hikes with the A.O.C. In the North Ga Mountains DO NOT SIGN UP! I will use my discretion in judging your ability to hike this event. The leader does reserve the right to remove anyone if warranted.
