Itinerary:

This D2 hike at East Palisades will NOT be a fast hike!  The 2.5 hours allotted is to allow for stops along the way to appreciate the beauty of the park - - maybe some rock hopping if the river level is low.   We will not be hiking any of the strenuous hills but instead staying along the river for as long as we can. (Be cautioned, however, that there are some hills we have to deal with.  No whining allowed!)   We'll take in the bamboo forest, the overlook deck,  and hopefully get to the dog beach on the other end of the park as well.

Be advised:  If you want a workout hike, this is NOT the one to register for.  We will be making several stops, and we won't be rushed.  Plan to stay with the group to engage in conversation and be friendly!

East Palisades is one of the most beautiful of all the CNRA units. It offers several miles of trails that connect to a scenic overlook that offers excellent views of the Devil's Race Course Shoals.

We will leave promptly at 9 am.   Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to get settled, buy a park pass ($5)  and meet your fellow members.

If you bring your dog, he/she should be able to keep up with the group and interact well with other dogs and people. The Chattahoochee NRA requires that owners keep their dogs on a leash and clean up after their pets on the trails. A maximum of three dogs will be permitted on this hike on a first to sign up basis.

There are no bathroom facilities at this location, but there are plenty of trees!
