Itinerary:
Starting at Vogel State Park, hiking counter clockwise, our trail will carry the group into The Burnett Gap. We will then hike into the low area of Sosebee Creek Valley where we will cross the foot bridge just before Wolf Creek Road. This is where we will have our first break. Next we will have some steady climbs that will bring us to Calf Stomp Gap (down the trail before Calf Stomp their is a fork - stay left). This will later intersect with a 3 way Forestry Road - to your right will be a campsite. We will have our proposed break just before at the base of Coosa Bald (4280ft). Once we reach the log (the top) just before the Duncan Ridge junction we will sit down and have lunch! After refueling we get back on trail for a short distance and turn left (southeast) to Duncan Ridge Trail and hike to State Road 180 (Wolf Gap) and stop for another break. We will then cross the road into The Blood Mountain Wilderness to summit Slaughter Mountain (4338 ft). Once on top of Slaughter, we will take a short breather by the big rock. After the breather the hike will take us to the junction of Coosa Backcountry Trail & Duncan Ridge where we will turn right on to The Duncan Ridge Trail. (1.5 mile to Blood) Then approach the Appalachian Trail ( the peoples trail) turning left to Blood Mountain (4,458) for a short break and then re- trace our tracks back to the junction of Coosa Backcountry Trail to Vogel Park and back to our cars. This is a very strenuous hike - total mountain travel is approximately 4,400 ft. (elevation gain.) We will hike together as one group, so you must be physically fit in order to keep up! It will be promised as a moderate pace throughout the hike. You must have absolutely some recent high D-5 & above levels for this event. I will most definitely use my discretion in judging your abilities to hike this event. The leader does reserve the right to put you back on the waiting list if warranted. Please no audible music on trail, use your headphones.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $53.20 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:
I will hike in the rain, if conditions are favorable! Will need plenty of drivers!
