Itinerary:

We will start from Dally Gap and will hike up the connector to Spanish Oak Gap. We will plateau a bit after climbing for a mile & a half and will then continue to climb steadily to the high point at Hemp Top. We will then descend down the other side of Hemp Top, climb through another small rise and finish at Double Spring Gap at the TN border.

This is a very good hike for someone wanting to go from a D3 to a D4; and for those who want a D4, this feels easy because the climb in is gradual and on the out, we have two short climbs and a then a gradual downhill.  All D3, D4, D5 folks are welcome.  Um, yup, you D6 people can come too!

This hike will have a lead and sweep.  The group will collect at any/all intersecting trails (and because we need to drink water!).

There is 2300 to 2400 feet of elevation gain - but, honestly, it won't feel as bad as it looks on paper.

This is an in and out hike.

If you are a driver, you must have a vehicle with ground clearance (CRV, Subaru, etc.).  The trip leaders are taking their vehicle but will not take passengers (we have a stop we need to make on the way home).  The trip leaders will meet you at the carpool place.
