Itinerary:

This is a hike for intermediate to advanced hikers.  The hike will begin at the top of the falls.  We will hike approximately 5.5 miles to the Len Foote Hike Inn. We will stop for a short break and to eat a snack/lunch while we enjoy the view.  We will return by completing the loop in a clockwise direction.

The hike will exceed 10 miles with above average elevation gains. There is about 2,200 - 2,400 feet of ascent on this hike, so you should have previous D4 hiking experience prior to registering.  We will maintain a steady pace with very limited rest breaks, except to enjoy our lunch and a beverage at the Len Foote Inn.  While the pace will be on the quicker side of moderate, it will not be a race, and we expect anyone who wants to hike ahead of the group to stop at all intersections. You should be able to hike 10 miles comfortably at an average speed with only a few brief breaks.  

If you don't have D4 experience, please send an email to the TL's detailing your recent date of hike, distance, elevation gain, and time.  If you don't have a D4, then we will look at your D3 experience to consider if you are appropriate for this event.

We should return to Mansell Park and Ride by 4:15 PMish.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

From the Park & Ride we will go north on Georgia 400 past the outlet Mall to GA 136. Left on 136 till GA 52. Right until the park entrance. Instead of parking in the Visitors Center lot, take a left before the lot and head up the hill to the parking lot for the Len Foote Inn Trailhead.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $41.60 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

The Len Foote Inn often graciously provides coffee, tea, fruit and leftovers as snacks for day hikers.  Please remember to bring enough money to tip appropriately if you choose to take advantage of this courtesy.


However, you can not count on there be any food there when we arrive so your trip leaders highly recommend that you bring your lunch :)

There is a $5 State Park Fee unless you have an annual park pass. Please split the cost between all persons in the vehicle.
