Itinerary:

Let's show some love for the trails we so love!!!

If EVERY AOC MEMBER WOULD VOLUNTEER JUST 4 HOURS ONCE A YEAR, WHAT A DIFFERENCE WE COULD MAKE!! There is a job ALL physical capabilities can do.

Volunteers perform trail maintenance on the 20+miles of trails at the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club provides Crew Leader supervision, tools, work gloves (or bring your own), water and snacks. Volunteers should wear work clothes and comfortable closed toed shoes.

We will stay together working as a group & follow the instructions of our Crew Leader(s). We will learn the procedures of how to make our trails better for today & for the future.

Arrive by 8:00 am to allow time for sign-in, and getting to the Ampitheater (Visitor Center picnic area) which is 5-10 minute walk from the overflow parking lot. We will group near the registration table at the overflow parking lot.

This is the write-up by the Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club:

Work Plan July 14, 2018 Trail Day
Registration will be at 8:00 am at Old Hwy 41
“kick-off” will be at 8:30
at Visitor Center amphitheater.
11:30am end work 12:00pm head home

Details to be added when the plan has been completed.

July 14, 2018 Trail Work Day Plan

We will be working on the Mountain Trail again between the Picket Line Trail and the Fire Road. Parking and registration at the Old 41 Lot, muster at the amphitheater, stage tools at the grassy sloped area next to the trail head, return tools straight to the maintenance area.

The work will consist mostly of more trashing the trail creep erosion, out sloping the trail in places, removing trip hazards, and finishing up some of the work from past months.

Here is the work plan for our work day. It covers the same area on the front of the mountain that we have been working on for the last several months, perhaps for the last time (except for future fence). This covers 6 potential work sites. For full detail click on ~ Mountain Trail work plan 7-14

Since most of the heavy work in the trail limits is completed, work will be under traffic. If working in the trail, as usual, trail workers should call out “Hiker” and work can stop to let hikers pass.

Don’t start what you can’t finish. If done early, help another crew trash the eroded areas. Make it fun, and above all –BE SAFE!

Next KMTC Trails Work Day is on Saturday, Auguts 11th. Please mark it on your calendar!
