Itinerary:
moderate to strenuous-6 miles

We will hike up to Chinquapin Mountain and its beautiful overlook and take a lunch break and then down again to descend steeply to the three waterfalls on the western fork of Overflow Creek, and further down to visit the primitive campground before ascending the steep trail back up to the parking lot. There will be an optional dinner for those who care to at a nice Chinese restaurant with an extensive (and inexpensive menu) and nice all you can eat buffet as well.

Good supportive hiking shoes
2 liters of water
appropriate clothing for the weather-layers if cold.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:near Highlands, NC Meet at park and ride lot From the park and ride lot we will travel north on I-85 for about 12 miles until I-985 bears off to the left and follow this to Clayton, GA where we will stop briefly at McDonalds, for a restroom, breakfast break, before traveling further up Hwy 441 North. Just north of Dillard, GA, we will turn onto Hwy 246-106 towards Highlands, NC and about two miles short of that town our trailhead turns sharply to the right.

Will this event occur rain or shine? Not if there is severe winter weather in North Carolina.
