Amicalola to Springer Mountain and back

Itinerary:
This will be a 17.3 mile out and back from Springer Mountain (3,782).Then a clockwise turn via Len Foote Inn Trail back to the parking lot. We start at the upper parking lot Falls (2,850) near the Trailhead ( Bathrooms available). From there we take the Approach Trail ( blue blaze) to climb Frosty Mountain at mile 4 (3,382). After the climb the trail will descend into Nimble Will Gap at 4.9 miles (2,800) passing the Len Foote Inn junction.Our hike will then ascend to Black Mountain at 5.5 miles (3,600) passing Black Gap Shelter. This will be a climb of approximately 600 Mountain Travel from the Gap to Springer Mountain at mile 7.8, where lunch will partake with afforded views! This will be the Southern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail ( the people's trail ). After lunch we retrace our tracks and head for the 11.3 mile to The Len Foote Inn Trail junction turning left ( green blaze). At 1 mile we will stop for our short break at the Inn (2,927).The Inn offers snacks and bathroom ( please leave tip in jar if partaking). After lunch we head south where we will cross over a couple of bumps (3,024). The trail will have foot bridges crossing over Tributaries from Cochran Creek and a small Ridge trail with wonderful views! This is a very strenuous hike so you must be physically fit in order to keep up! We have several good climbs on this trail. Don't forget about the backside of Nimblewill Gap! Estimated Mountain Travel around 3,400. You must have absolutely some recent high D-5 & above levels for this event. I will most definitely use my discretion in judging your abilities to hike this event. The leader does reserve the right to put you back on the waiting list if warranted. Please no audible music on trail and no tree climbing. Leave no trace, pack it in pack it out! Let nature be the sounds .🙏

From the Park & Ride we will go north on Georgia 400 past the outlet Mall to GA 136. Left on 136 till GA 52. Right until the park entrance. Then past the Visitor Center to the top of falls parking lot.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $41.60 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
