WILDERNESS FIRST RESPONDER CLASSES

In just 4 days you will go from being a helpless bystander to a lean mean "WOOFER" machine, ready to jump in and save a life. Since Professional CPR is a prerequisite for the course, it is included.  The course is based on the practice guidelines of the Wilderness Medical Society.  It is a 52 hours intense but rewarding learning experience. Yes...there is classroom work. But for all of you wilderness types there is plenty of hands-on practice as well as realistic, adrenaline-pumping, mock drill scenarios.

The Wilderness First Responder class is for anyone who spends work or leisure time in the outdoors.  It covers the treatment of a wide range of accidents and/or injuries that can occur in the back country.  You will learn methods for treating minor injuries such as blisters and sunburn to pulling traction on a broken femur.  You will learn to improvise with items that you have with you such as backpacks, belts, bandanas, etc.

CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion, each participant would receive their nationally recognized Wilderness First Responder and Professional CPR certifications.

 THE INSTRUCTOR

The instructor, Karon Bradley, has been an R.N. for 34 years and a wilderness camp nurse for the last 20 years.  She is certified by the state to teach Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness First Aid.  She is also certified to teach American Heart and Red Cross CPR.  She has been teaching wilderness medical classes locally and around country for the last 10 years.
