Powers Island, Cochran Shoals Interstate North

Please join me for a hike at Cochran Shoals and Powers Island.

Hike will be approximately 5 miles and just about 2 hours - we will first hike the trails of Powers Island (the actual island trail) and then walk on the sidewalk at Interstate North Parkway for a very short distance and then pick up the trails on the other side of the river at Cochran Shoals - will head on the main trail all the way down to the Columns Drive parking lot and then back.  

 D2 becuase of distance not elevation or difficulty - the loop on Powers Island is a little tricky (roots, rocks, uneven terrian) but the Cochran Shoals main trail is flat, no roots - nice walking trail.

If times allows (and not yet dark) those that want another mile of trail - we can hike another trail that is off the Powers Island parking lot.  That add-on trail has a bit of elevation but only about a mile in length and it loops right back to the Powers Island Parking lot.

$5.00 parking fee at the CRNRA parks - pass can be purchased at Kiosk in parking lot for $5.00 cash or if you already have the annual pass just display in your vehicle.

From 400 North or South - take 285 West - take exit 22 for NEW Northside Drive, at first light take a right (one way road) to continue on Northside Drive.  Continue straight and the road will change names to Interstate North Parkway (DO NOT get on Northside Drive NW)  take Interstate North Parkway about two miles and make a right on Riveredge Lane NW (just before you cross the river).  Don't pass it because you would have to completely loop around 285 and New Northside again - please give yourself additional driving time.
