About the Swamp:

"Visiting the Okefenokee Swamp Park instantly transports you into a prehistoric environment, populated by living dinosaurs – our alligators, as well as unique species of carnivorous plants, rare birds and the opportunity to learn more about the ancient Okefenokee cultures" Click Here

Itinerary:

This is a 3 days canoeing trip into Okefenokee Swamp. We start driving on the evening of Thursday 31st. We will stay the night at a campsite near the swamp (TBD). Friday early morning we will pick up our canoes at Suwannee Canal Recreation Area (Okefenokee Adventures) and start paddling. After 12 miles paddling, we camp at Round Top shelter for the night. The next day we will paddle 15 miles and settle down for the night at Monkey Lake campsite. For the last day, we paddle out 8 miles and finish where we started. Then get into our cars and drive back to Atlanta. We may stop to grab a bite on our way back (this will be group decision).
