Itinerary:

THIS IS A WAITLIST ONLY EVENT AND IT WILL HAVE A MINIMUM OF FOUR PEOPLE AND A MAX OF SIX PEOPLE. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

All registrants shall initially be placed on the wait list so that the Trip Leader can evaluate the registrant’s fitness and experience level.

This event is posting early to allow those who may wish to attend to train for this fun hike! :)

Come and join me for an exhilarating and tough hike in the Catskills, listed as one of National Geographic’s Top 19 thrilling hikes.  This hike is sometimes called the toughest hike in the East, covering over 8000 feet of elevation gain during 24 fun sweat filled miles of hiking.

We will ascend 5 peaks over 3,500 feet including West Kill Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain, Plateau Mountain, Indian Head Mountain and Twin Mountain.

We will be starting our epic challenge at the Prediger trailhead which is pretty easy going before we begin our steep ascent to the summit of Indian Head at an elevation of 3573 feet, after passing the summit we will descend into the Notch before climbing to the top of Twin Mountain (3640’), here we will take a rest and soak in the views.

After our rest we will descend into Pecoy Notch and take a look at the cave on the way down, we will then climb to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain at 3800 feet before descending down very rocky terrain into Mink Hollow!

As we climb up to the plateau we will pass a spring to refill our water bottles, there is Flat Hiking along the top of Plateau Mountain (3840’) so we will make the most of it!! 😊

Once we descend from Plateau Mountain the steepest most difficult parts are behind us!! After a rest at the road crossing we will climb towards Hunter Mountain (optional side trails to the summit – why not since we are here already???).  We will continue to Diamond Notch before the final climb to up to West Kill Mountain at 3880 feet!, continuing along to St Anne’s Peak before reaching the other trailhead at Spruceton Road.

You will need to purchase a round-trip air ticket to Albany, NY and meet me there by 3pm on the 2nd of August. Your return trip should be anywhere from the 4th August onwards (if you book a return flight on the 4th it would be preferably after 11am). Further details will be provided after sign up.

We will discuss suitable accommodations (participants are required to pay for their own accomodation) after sign up, maybe an AirBNB or something close to Albany, NY for both nights). I will also like to request a volunteer to drive the second rental car.
