Join me as we light up the trails with a quick stepping training hike that will get that heart rate & step count up right out of the gates...This week day D3 training hike will see some nice elevation, as I take you along what I affectionately dub my "training grounds!" We might hit a coulple of the same paths twice but never in the same direction. Conditions will be a little sloppy, due to recent rainfall, so be prepared for some loose terrain - trekking poles are always advised.
Bring a headlight or something as a light source in case it gets dark while we're out there, better safe than sorry.
This is NOT my typical FAST fitness hike! So, join me for this TRAINING hike (I will have full pack & gear as I am training for a future trip, you DO NOT need to do the same - unless you want to :) that goes along various trails at Vickery Creek (in a top secret special direction), we might be re-grouping at the top of the steepest climb (to be announced before ascending) if needed, but there are no formal stops planned. The average will be in the 18 min/mi range for sure, but don't be surprised to see some 16 minute + miles.
Conveniently located in historic Roswell, GA, the historic "Vickery Creek" unit of the Chattahoochee River Nat'l Recreation Area (CRNRA) boasts an amazing variety of shady creekside and ridgetop trails and is one our Club's favorite places for hiking (mine for sure).
|How to Get There:|
We will meet in the parking lot off of OXBO ROAD (south side, between Atlanta Street and Dobbs)
The address is near :::
Arrive 10-15 minutes early to get head count and intros in. There are no bathrooms at this lot. The GPS link above is pretty accurate too.
LEAVE NO TRACE!
LOAD UP YOUR PACKS TOO!
BRING A LIGHT SOURCE!
