This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

It has been years since I hiked Red Top. Great to get back. It will be nice to get some distance in a beautiful location for a decent workout. The overall elevation gain is about 1200 feet. Plan to bring a lunch and we will find a nice spot to eat. We should make it from the carpool location to the Visitor's Center by about 10:45 and will start hiking immediately. We should be done in time to avoid rush hour traffic. Hope to see you!

We can save on the parking fee by having a carpool to the event. It is a short driving distance from Chastain Road. But, we can save some bucks!

If you wish to meet at the event and drive directly to the Visitor's Center location:

There is a normal $5 parking fee at Georgia State Parks. But, there are many other options related to fee payment such as senior discounts, annual passes, and library parking loaner cards.
