NC Mountains: Standing Indian

Some of the most scenic Mountain vistas are in the Southern Nantahala's Wilderness North Carolina. This hike we will visit Standing Indian Mountain ( 5,500 feet elevation). We will start North of Tate City where the road ends at the Beech Creek Trailhead ( 3,000 ft elevation).This hike will be a counter loop uphill, encountering several switchbacks to Case Knife Gap( 4,500 feet elevation). We then go off the trail map and turn ourselves to the northeast. With a good eye and some breadcrumbs left by the last hiker, we turn our attention on to a herd path. This will take us Northeast into a Bushwhack climbing the Mountainside of Standing Indian. The Bushwhack then intersects into a Ridge line on the Appalachian Trail ( the people's trail).Turning Northwest,we shortly reach Standing Indian for lunch and some afforded views! After lunch we then jump back on the A/T heading Northwest, passing up the S/I Shelter for Deep Gap Trail. We then pay our attention ( sharp turn) South and head back to our cars.You must have absolutely some recent high D-5 & above levels for this event. I will most definitely use my discretion in judging your abilities to hike this event. The leader does reserve the right to put you back on the waiting list if warranted. Please no audible music on trail and no tree climbing. Leave no trace, pack it in pack it out! Let nature be the sounds

85 N to 985 N to 23/365 N to 23/441 N this will take us into Clayton GA. We will make a pit stop, at the Ingles which will be on your right. In Clayton turn left onto 76 W, travel about 15 minutes. Right onto Persimmon, left onto Tallulah road , travel about 20 minutes, or until the road ends.
