Itinerary:

Please join me for a hike at Sope Creek (Paper Mill parking).  We will start our hike promptly at 9:00 a.m. and hike for just about two hours and cover about 5 miles. Hike will be at a moderate pace.  Sope Creek trails are beautiful, we will pause for a few minutes to take in the ruins, other than that will keep a pretty steady pace with just a couple of very breif water breaks.  The trails at Sope Creek have some ruts and roots to traverse along the trail.  Some climbs but no climbs that I would consider strenous.  Not a fitness hike.  

Meet at the entrance on Paper Mill Road There is a $5 cash fee for a daily parking pass or if you have a CRNRA annual pass even better.  

 

There have been cases of vandalism to vehicles so leave all valuables at home.

 

Sope Creek (Paper Mill Road) does not have a huge parking lot, get there a few minutes early to secure a parking spot - if lot is full overflow parking will be at Sope Creek Elementary School  3320 Paper Mill Rd SE, Marietta, GA 30067 (about 1/4 mile down the road).

Address 3760 Paper Mill Road, Marietta, GA 30067 (this address is approximate) 

From eastbound Interstate 285

  • Take exit 24, Riverside Drive.
  • Left For 2.3 miles to Johnson Ferry Road.
  • Left for 2.7 miles to the junction of Johnson Ferry Road and Paper Mill Road.
  • Left onto Paper Mill Road for 2.2 miles, entrance will be on the left.

From westbound Interstate 285

  • Take exit 24, Riverside Drive.
  • North For 2.3 miles to Johnson Ferry Road.
  • Left for 2.7 miles to the junction of Johnson Ferry Road and Paper Mill Road.
  • Left onto Paper Mill Road for 2.2 miles, entrance will be on the left.
