Itinerary:

Let's show some love for the trails we so love!!!

If EVERY AOC MEMBER WOULD VOLUNTEER JUST 4 HOURS ONCE A YEAR, WHAT A DIFFERENCE WE COULD MAKE!! There is a job ALL physical capabilities can do.

Volunteers perform trail maintenance on the 20+miles of trails at the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club provides Crew Leader supervision, tools, work gloves (or bring your own), water and snacks. Volunteers should wear work clothes and comfortable closed toed shoes.

We will stay together working as a group & follow the instructions of our Crew Leader(s). We will learn the procedures of how to make our trails better for today & for the future.

Arrive by 8:00am to allow time for sign-in, and getting to the Ampitheater (Visitor Center picnic area) which is 5-10 minute walk from the overflow parking lot. We will group near the registration table at the overflow parking lot. The restroom facilities will be open at the Visitor Center.

This is the write-up by the Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club:

Work Plan February 9th, 2019 Trail Day
Registration will be at 8:00 am at Old Hwy 41
“kick-off” will be at 8:30
at Visitor Center amphitheater.
11:30am end work 12:00pm head home

If there is a rain day cancellation, we are tentatively scheduling a make-up date for February 16th.

February 9, 2019 Trail Work Day Plan
February 9 Work Day Plans : On February 9 we will be            working on the Camp Brumby Trail from just north of Milepost 4.5 (about 3/8 of a mile past Camp Brumby) to the uphill section just past the little creek at about mile 3.7 or so. We will meet at the amphitheater at 8:30 am. Registration opens at 8 am in the Highway 41 parking lot. Please register online prior to February 5th, so that we know how many to expect. Projects include:
  • Deberming the trail to allow water to flow off the trail
  • Clear building sites at Camp Brumby
  • Rebuild some fence sections
  • Clear parts of the forest service road of obstructions

Don’t start what you can’t finish. If done early, help another crew trash the eroded areas. Make it fun, and above all –BE SAFE!

 VOLUNTEER!! YOUR PARK NEEDS YOU!!

Thanks,
Donald Olds President
