Itinerary:

This is subject to change due to the possible of the federal government shutdown. We will start at the Visitor Center then we'll go along the side of the mountain for another half mile (to get warmed up) before looping back up and over the mountain and down to Burnt Hickory. We'll cross Burnt Hickory ( short break) turn west to Hardage Mill Trail and continue across Whitlock/Dallas Hwy, passing the Illinois monument ( short break). From there we cut west and go counter clockwise on Kolb Farm loop trail.  We'll stop for lunch at the Subway/Kroger on Powder Springs Rd. After a good break and refueling we'll continue around counter clockwise on the Kolb Farm to the east loop trail past the Cheatham Hill parking lot. We soon cross Whitlock/Dallas Hwy taking New Salem Church Trail crossing Burnt Hickory. The hike proceeds on to the the Brumby trail ( east trail) to the visitor's center and back to our cars. This hike will have many junctions so you have to keep up within a reasonable distance. I will most definitely use my discretion in judging your abilities to hike this event. The leader does reserve the right to put you back on the waiting list if warranted. Please no audible music on trail, And no tree climbing. Let nature be the sounds . Would like to credit Wynn Or Tricia for promo illustration.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector

2) If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way.  You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.

3) You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it.  Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.

4) After crossing US 41 take a right at the first redlight which is Church Street Extension.

5) You should cross railroad tracks soon.

6) Take a left onto Old 41 at the second redlight.  If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.

7) Stay on Old US 41 until you pass in front of the mountain, through the light and take the next LEFT and park in the overflow parking (about 300 yards past the light in front of the visitor's center).
