Itinerary:

3, 2, 1... Want to knock out some quick training close to home with approximately 3,800 elevation gain in a little over 12 Miles? Then this Hike is for you. We will start from the Visitor Center then head out to the:

3 MILE - To Burnt Hickory Road and Back to Visitior Center

Head back out

2 MILE - Post at 2 Miles and  Back to Visitior Center

Head back out

1 MILE down to BENCH - Up to Top of Big Kennesaw and head down to BENCH on the Road, this is your final turn around point head back up to the top and down the Trail back to Visitor Center.

There will be NO SWEEPER and you may not have someone with you all the time during the hike, but it’s nearly impossible to get lost once you’ve completed the route over the mountain the first time.

If you’re not sure you can make the 12.25 miles, but want to try it - this is an OK event as long as you understand the following:

If you don’t cover the whole 12.25 in 5.5 hours, you’ll be removed from the event - BUT THERE IS NO SHAME IN TRYING - so don’t let this stop you.  Please check in with the trip leaders when you’re done.

There are water fountains available at the visitor’s center and at Burnt Hickory Rd. Your can also use your car as a refueling point but your will need to have parked in the front lot.

NEW Entrance Fee: $5 daily, $40 annual park specific. Interagency Passes will be available for purchase, and are valid as an entrance pass. Passes may be purchased online through recreation.gov (beginning Nov. 8) and at the Visitor Center (beginning Nov. 13). WE WILL BE STARTING BEFORE THE VISITOR CENTER OPENS

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Use Google Map address:

Kennesaw Mountain Visitor Center, 900 Kennesaw Mountain Dr, Kennesaw, GA 30188

1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector

2) If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way.  You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.

3) You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it.  Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.

4) After crossing US 41 take a right at the first redlight which is Church Street Extension.

5) You should cross railroad tracks soon.

6) Take a left onto Old 41 at the second redlight.  If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.

7) Stay on Old US 41 until you pass in front of the mountain then turn left at the redlight and park in the main visitor center lot if you can.  If full head back out to Old 41, take a left and park in the overflow parking lot farther down the road on the left.

Meet prior to our start time at the cannon outside the main entrance of the visitor's center or just inside the lobby.  Call the trip leader if you are running late, but please note that we won't wait on you.  You will have to try and catch up with the group if you arrive late.
