WANNA HELP ME BREAK IN SOME NEW SHOES?
Join me as we light up the trails with a quick stepping hike that will get that heart rate & step count up right out of the gates...This D4 training hike is a HYBRID of TRAIL RUNNING & FAST HIKING + we'll see some nice elevation! I take you along what I affectionately dub my "training grounds!" We might hit a coulple of the same paths twice but never in the same direction. Conditions have been a little sloppy, so be prepared for some loose terrain - trekking poles are always advised.
This is a FAST event along various trails at Vickery Creek (in a top secret special direction) and we'll only be re-grouping at the top of the steepest climb (to be announced before ascending). There are no formal stops planned. The average will be in the 15 min/mile pace, don't be surprised to see some 12 minute + miles. So, if you haven't been on any of my FAST AOC D4 hikes recently (or one of my QucikStep v.6.2 D3's) this may not be an appropriate hike for you...safety first kids, safety first!
Conveniently located in historic Roswell, GA, the historic "Vickery Creek" unit of the Chattahoochee River Nat'l Recreation Area (CRNRA) boasts an amazing variety of shady creekside and ridgetop trails and is one our Club's favorite places for hiking (mine for sure).
*Lil bit of a bush whacking route ;)
|How to Get There:|
We will meet in the parking lot off of OXBO ROAD (south side, between Atlanta Street and Dobbs)
The address is near :::
Arrive 10-15 minutes early to get head count and intros in...after all I'm a newbie I might even make y'all pose for a photo :) There are no bathrooms at this lot. The GPS link above is pretty accurate too.
LEAVE NO TRACE!
