Itinerary:

We have a multi-adventure event scheduled for July 18, 2009 with OAC.  OAC began working with the AOC this year and they are a wonderful outfitter.  You trip leaders paddled with them a few months ago and we enjoyed the experience.

SATURDAY MORNING and AFTERNOON

We’ll carpool to the outfitter and then spend Saturday on flat water kayaks, exploring the upper Ocoee River.  Local guides will be with us on the trip, demonstrating paddling skills while identifying wildlife, flora and fauna.  The kayaks measure about 14’, have rudders (easier to remain straight when paddling) and are the “sit inside” (not sit on top) models.

SATURDAY EVENING

After our kayak trip we’ll camp in a tent up the river from the outfitter.  The tents hold four people per tent, no need to bring your tent but you will need a sleeping pad and bag.

We'll pass a grocery store between the kayak take-out and our camp site.  On my past events, we often do burgers and chicken on the grille and share side dishes.  This is optional.

If you are a beginner camper, that's cool too.  Ask and your trip leaders will be happy to discuss options.

SUNDAY

NO AOC event Sunday.  The area has many outdoor activity options.  First, the river is open and flowing that day so you may white water raft (email Patrick if you wish to raft).  Option two is to hike, option three, lay around by the river and soak up some rays or return to Atlanta after breakfast.

So, the group will pack up and head home after breakfast OR if they want to coordinate among themselves.

Contact Patrick with questions.

Important information for paid events in which payment is managed through the AOC:

     - Payment must be received by the payment due date and prior to participation in the event.

     - Some paid events require a minimum number of registered participants. If that number is not met, the event will be canceled and refunds will be issued to those who have already paid.

     - Third-party vendors often require damage deposits. Each registrant agrees to be liable for and required to reimburse the Atlanta Outdoor Club for any withheld deposits due to the actions of or damages caused by that registrant.

     - No partial payments. All registrants must pay the posted Member Cost regardless of any agreement you may have with any party involved in the event.
