Itinerary:

The Leita Thompson Memorial is a very pretty trail located in Roswell, GA. It's made of soft, small gravel and plenty wide to walk side by side. It's very wooded and clean and has a few nice little hills. I call it the perfect D2. We'll do about 5 miles on the trails including a walk around a small lake far off the beaten path. Our pace will be on the brisk side, but the hills are gentle.

A little bit more information on the park:

http://thefarm.typepad.com/ngmo/2009/06/leita-thompson-memorial-park.html

There are three sets of porta potties throughout the park.

We'll allow up to three dogs on this hike. Please cooperate with the posted rules.  Dogs must be on leash at all times, no exceptions (except in the dog park). The AOC is very visible and it is important we portray a good image.  You must clean up after your dog.

Event Directions:

1200 Woodstock Rd  - - approximate address

Roswell, GA 30075

34.06315, -84.40678

From Atlanta take GA-400 N to exit 7B W/Holcomb Bridge Rd in Roswell. Continue west on Holcomb Bridge Rd for 5.7 miles. On your right you will pass Chick-fil-a and Mountain Park Rd. Take the next right. This is the entrance for the dog park and Art Center West.  Make an immediate left for the gravel parking lot a.k.a. Overflow Parking lot.

If you enter the pavilion parking area you can park there and/or follow the signs to the overflow parking lot. As you head back toward Hwy 92/Woodstock Hwy, see the signs on your left that read "Overflow Parking" and "One Way." Take the gravel road through the woods and park at the top of the hill. Come out of the woods to the gravel parking lot.

We will meet in the overflow parking area.  Use the Dog park/Art Center West entrance and proceed to the left to park at the gravel parking lot (we are NOT meeting behind the pavillion).

If you'd like to join some of the group for lunch, we can meet at Panera Bread.  See information in the notes below.

Notes:

Free Parking

For those who want to have lunch after the hike, we can plan to meet at Panera Bread - - just 1/4 mile from the park.  It's in the Super Target shopping center. on HWY 92.   Panera serves sandwiches, soups and salads.  The address is 1195 Woodstock Rd, Roswell, GA 30075.
