Itinerary:

Fort Mountain State Park - Grand Tour

Join me as I take a long hike through one of our best state parks, Fort Mountain State Park.

We will be seeing waterfalls, vistas, talc mines and babbling brooks as we traverse a large loop around the park followed by an inner loop for good measure.

We will need to keep the group together as this hike has many turns and intersections. We will be utilizing trails 301, 303, 403, 407, the Campers Loop as well as the Gahuti Trail in this 17 mile adventure.

The trails in the park are generaly in very good condition, but this hike is VERY strenuous at 17 miles and over 4000 ft of ascent.

Recent D5/D6 experience is required to participate in this event. Long stretches of the hike will be at 3mph.

We will meet at the visitors center for a bio-break before moving to the parking lot nearest the park entrance to begin our hike.

Since this is a state park, a $5 parking fee or annual pass is required for each vehicle.
