The Nature Club of the Chattahoochee Nature Center invites you to participate in our March 28th "Dine & Discover" gathering. Join us for a festive Potluck Dinner (7:00 - ~7:30 PM) and mingle with folks with similar environmental interests. Then keep your seats for a fascinating presentation (7:30 - ~9:00 PM) - see more below. All who have an interest in nature and the environment are invited! Ages 16–Adult, $10 general public/ $5 CNC members. Event Details ~ Ernest F. Koone III is President of Lazy K Nursery, at Pine Mountain, Georgia. Lazy K Nursery was established in 1957 on land held by his family since 1827 and is the largest grower of native American azaleas in the United States. Lazy K has provided plants to Public Gardens and Arboreta as well as countless private gardens throughout the Country. Ernest has introduced many new selections of azaleas and is a noted designer of native landscapes. His clients include Georgia Southern University Botanical Garden, Callaway Gardens, Gibbs Gardens, The Atlanta Botanical Garden, Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, Rock City Gardens, The Tennessee Aquarium, Longwood Gardens, Trees Atlanta, The Atlanta Beltline and Quaker Hill Native Plant Garden in Pawling, New York. IN a NUTSHELL: Over the decades we Atlanta Outdoor Club hikers and nature lovers have become big fans of the Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) and are delighted that we share the same mission of "connecting people with nature." The CNC has a thriving "Nature Club" and they've graciously invited us to participate as often as we like in their "Dine & Discover" meetings - normally the 4th Thursday evening of each month, Jan - Oct, in the CNC's "Plaza Conference Room." Each meeting begins with a delicious Potluck Dinner and concludes with a Presentation on a topic of interest relating to Nature and the Natural World. The March 28th topic will be "An Evening with Jerry Hightower". Please bring $10 in cash to chip in to the CNC meeting registrar (for admission and parking - or $5 if you're a CNC member or regular volunteer). POTLUCK DINNER DETAILS, 7:00 - 7:30 PM: Hope you can arrive in time to join us for this festive and friendly monthly Nature Club dinner that will precede the above-discussed presentation in the same "Plaza Conference Room" - see Directions below. Please bring a food or beverage item of your choice to contribute - preferably something that you enjoy personally, and no need to provide more than about a half dozen servings of your chosen item. The predominant style of the dinner is Vegetarian. The Nature Center's policy is to minimize disposable plastics, etc. and they'll provide washable plates, cups, dining utensils, etc. for everyone to use. MORE about the CHATTAHOOCHEE NATURE CENTER (CNC): Located on a beautiful 127-acre site overlooking the Chattahoochee River in Roswell, GA (just upstream of "Morgan Falls") the Nature Center features an amazing variety of gardens, woodlands, meadows, ponds & wetlands, native plants and wild animals that showcase the natural beauty of Georgia. Its professional staff and hundreds of member-volunteers are known especially for their dedication to protecting and promoting our state's native wild flora & fauna. Since its founding by local citizen-activists in the 1970s the CNC has served as a focal point for for environmental education and communion with nature. Visitors who enjoy hiking are urged to explore a network of more than 2 miles of scenic trails via a fascinating variety of habitats. - Main Website: http://www.chattnaturecenter.org/ | |||||||
