Itinerary:

Have you wanted to do an Amicalola State Park hike to the Len Foote Inn but haven't felt up to keeping pace with some of the faster hikes that are posted there?  Then join us on Saturday morning!

We'll go at a comfortable pace, stopping as needed for water and rest.   But beware:  this hike isn't easy!  There are a few major hills,  so some rigorous D3 experience is required before you attempt this event.  This is definitely NOT a hike for beginners or for folks who haven't done at least a couple of harder D3s recently and better yet, some D4 hikes. Expect us to contact you if we need assurance of your ability.

The carpool willl leave promptly at 7:30 am so that we can get to the Amicalola Falls Visitor Center by 9:00. Please arrive by 7:15 so that we can arrange carpools,  get our gear into cars and make introductions. If you're running late, you'll have to drive to the event by yourself, so be sure to take driving instructions with you when you leave home.  People driving directly to the event should arrive at the visitor no later than 8:45 am, so that if the carpool folks arrive early, we don't have to wait for you.

There's a $5 State Park fee for each car entering the park (unless you have an annual tag).

We'll all gather at the Visitor's Center so that we can register and use the bathrooms. Then, we'll drive up to the trailhead parking lot together and put on our gear for the hike.  After making introductions (some folks will drive directly to the park) and taking a group photo, we'll head up the Hike Inn Trail and then stop at the Inn where we'll take a break and eat our lunches and a take a restroom break.  After lunch, we'll return to the parking lot via the same Hike Inn Trail. (This is a change from the original itinerary that took us up the Approach Trail.)

Please be sure to bring lunch with you. The Inn provides drinks and often has some desserts or other items left over from lunch to offer, which - - if available - - we can enjoy. We encourage everyone to  bring a few dollars with you to leave in the donation box for the Inn's hospitality. They really appreciate the support and we want them to continue to welcome AOC groups there.

We want to keep the group together, so if you can't resist speeding up and doing you're own fast hike, please do not register for this more moderate-paced event.
