Itinerary:
Where?
Atlanta Rocks is the largest indoor climbing gym in the Southeast, with more than 12,000 square feet of professionally-designed, seamless climbing surface. Atlanta Rocks has approximately 50 top-rope stations, averaging three climbing routes per rope.  Although this event is posted as Easy-Moderate, the gym offers enough variety that even the most advanced climbers can be challenged.  Route difficulty levels range from 5.4 to 5.13.

In addition, Atlanta Rocks offers locker rooms, showers and aerobic exercise equipment.

How Much?
See Cost information near the end of the trip description.  While the AOC will NOT be collecting any money for this event, you will still need to pay the gym.

Important - Belay Certification
If you have never climbed at Atlanta Rocks before but know how to belay and would like to, you'll need to get a belay certification while being supervised by a staff member.  This is for your safety, and it's a good thing.  The certification costs $3 and takes just a few minutes.  If you don't want to spring for the $3, you could offer to belay someone and they could pay your fee.  Only those with a yellow wristband will be able to belay.  If we end up with too few people to belay, we can take turns or try bouldering.

Please indicate in the Notes
1.  Your experience level for belaying
2.  Whether you are or plan to be certified at the gym.  We don't expect people to know how to, especially if you are new to the sport, so don't let that hold you back from signing up.

Climbing Tips
If this is your first time climbing or even if you would appreciate some climbing tips, we highly recommend this series of instructional videos on YouTube.

Event Duration
Do we really plan to climb for four hours straight?  Probably not, but you can if you want to and can find a belayer!  Also, trying to get to the gym by 6pm in Atlanta traffic is not an easy feat if you're across town.  So, the timeframe for this event is a lot more flexible than other events.  If you can't make it by 6, no biggie, just show up when you can.  And if you "flame out" after an hour or two, that's ok!  Feel free to hang out; part of the fun of climbing is hanging out with everyone, swapping stories and giving encouragement (or heckling) to your friends as they climb.

As always, do remove yourself from the event if you can't make it.  If it's last minute, be sure to email the trip leaders to let us know.

Required Items to Bring:
You can rent all the equipment, but it's nice if you have your own. REI sells a kit by Black Diamond that includes everything but the shoes for $99.  See Recommended Items for basic indoor climbing gear.
