Itinerary:

Georgia Highest Point: Brasstown Bald - Fall Foliage

Join us to enjoy together cooler temperatures, fresh air, and beatiful fall views in the mountains!

Arkaquah Trail is scenic and challenging hiking trail that has been designeted as National Recreational Trail in Georgia. It has multiple beautiful views of surrounding mountain along the way and open 360 degree view from the observation tower at the top.

We will start at Track Rock Gap, at about 2,280 feet. The trail climbs 6.1 miles to 4,784 feet at the top of Brasstown Bald, the highest peak in Georgia. We return back down the same trail.

The first 2 miles have an elevation gain of 2,200 feet to ridge line. This part is pretty challenging, it will pump your heart rate for sure, make sure you had good breakfast before you attempt this.

Once there, we will follow Locus Log Ridge line until we reach upper Brasstown parking lot. This whole section up to here we will in Brasstown Wilderness. There's a store and restrooms at parking, if you need a quick break or snack.

From here we will take the half mile paved tourist trail to the summit. We will have well deserved lunch and enjoy views of all surrounding mountains from the observation tower.

After relaxing and taking few pictures we will hike down, using the same route, back to our starting point.

Please Note:  This is pretty challenging and difficult hike. There are some very steep and eroded parts along the trail. Be sure you are in good physical condition before signing up for this event.

Your trip leaders are planning to make stop for dinner on the way back at Dahlonega.
