Itinerary:

We will gather by the Confederate Hall near the restrooms and start our hike promptly at 11 AM.  We will hike by the Crossroads, the Grist Mill, the covered bridge, the three lakes and other nice areas on the way. 

This will be a moderate hike with some short brakes. 


Required Items to Bring:

Please wear footwear for all types of terrain. Bringing water and snacks is a very good idea.

Clothing appropriate for the weather since this will be rain or shine. 


How to Get There:

Directions To Confederate Hall Parking Lot: Note there is a fee to enter the park. You can buy an annual pass for 40 dollers or a one day pas for 20 collers.

You can park in Stone Mountain Village and walk about one mile to get to the starting place for free. Just please allow extra time for the extra walking.

To the main entrance- From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile - stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile. Confederate Hall will be on your left. (Careful - there's a stop sign in front of Confederate Hall for those entering the West Gate.) The parking lot will be immediately after. Wait for the group near the walk up trail.

MARTA PARK & RIDE LOT Free public parking in Stone Mountain Village From Hwy 78 take exit 5 - stay right for a half mile - then a quick exit to E. Ponce/Stone Mtn. Village. At the end of the ramp turn left. Drive a mile or so into town. Turn left on East Mountain. Turn right on Fourth Street. There you will find the MARTA park and ride.

PARKING: A a daily parking pass ($20) or annual parking pass ($40)required for Park entry.

 

From Downtown/Midtown Atlanta
Take 10th St NE and Monroe Dr NE to Ponce De Leon Ave NE. Follow Ponce De Leon Ave NE and US- 78 E to E Ponce De Leon Ave. take exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. Follow the exit ramp to the East Gate entrance of Stone Mountain Park.

From Downtown Atlanta (via I-20)
Take I-20 East to I-285 North. Once on I-285 North, take Exit 39B, the U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel 7.7 miles and take exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. Follow the exit ramp to the East Gate entrance of Stone Mountain Park.
