Itinerary:

Notice: This web page is designed so that you can only put yourself on the waiting list. Once we verify that you satisfy the registration requirements we will move you to the list of participants. See registration requirements below. There will be a maximum of 15 people who can attend this event.

The Dolomite Italian Alps are a UNESCO World Heritage Site that combines spectacular 360 degree mountain panoramas, unique dolomite spires and sweeping green valleys dotted with old world villages (just look at the picture above!) We will be in Italy for 10 glorious days; flying to Venice; driving 2 hours to our own Mountain House where for 5 days and nights we will be surrounded by incredible places to explore.  We will spend our time venturing on day hikes; wondering the valleys and mountains on e-bikes; site-seeing Medievil villages filled with romantic architecture and art districts; and taking on an otherworldly 3-day hut-to-hut trek  Here is how the adventure shapes up:

Day 1 Tues. July 14: Fly out of Atlanta

Day 2 Wed. July 15:  Fly into Venice to arrive in the AM, rent cars, drive 2 hours to Cortina d'Ampezzo for a little site-seeing and dinner before we drive 20 miles to enjoy our first night at the Mountain House. Below is link to the mountain house:

Day 3 Thurs. July 16: Enjoy a full day hike (To Be Determined. We may split up the group and offer choices of the many day hikes available)

Day 4 Fri. July 17:  Enjoy a day hike to Tre Cime and Lago of Braise.  The Tre Cime is one of the Italian Dolomite’s best-known massifs. A hike along this route – the Tre Cime de Lavaredo loop will take us to the best views any hiker could ask for, as well as the option to fuel up at some Rifugios (remote huts with a place to eat) along the way: we’ll pass by the Rifugio Auronza, Lavaredo and Locatelli.  We will take a short drive to romantic Lago di Braise considered by many to be the most beautiful lake in all of the Dolomites.

Day 5 Sat. July 18:  Site-seeing in Belluno and Feltre  Belluno is a picturesque hillside town with many beautiful panoramic views of the mountains from the historic center. With inviting streets and fresh air a peaceful walk along the beautiful Gothic and Renaissance buildings and Cathedrals is a must.  Feltre is known for its art district and 14th and 15th century architecture.

Day 6 Sun. July 19: A full day hike (To Be Determined. We may split up the group and offer choices of the many day hikes available)

Day 7 Mon. July 20: A full day of e-biking (To Be Determined. We may split up the group and offer choices of the many scenic backroad routes available)

Day 8 Tues. July 21: A full day of e-biking  (To Be Determined. We may split up the group and offer choices of the many scenic backroad routes available)

Day 9 Wed. July 22:  3-day hut-to-hut  9.3 mi. The trek begins at Passo Falzarego with a steady ascent through the dramatic peaks of Averau, Nuvolau and the Cinque Torre, giving views on both sides of some of the Dolomites most impressive peaks.  Overnight accommodation - Rifugio Croda da Lago

Day 10 Thurs. July 23: 3-Day hut-to-hut 9.4 mi. 1235m ascent, 1230m descent   From the rifugio a descent leads down through beautiful woodland giving glimpses of the imposing Tofana de Rozes, before a steady, and sometimes steep ascent leads back up through woodland, Finally, we will cross the valley towards Col dei Bos before traversing the slopes beneath the impressive rock walls of the Tofana de Rozes which loom above you.  Overnight accommodation - Rifugio Dibona

Day 11 Fri. July 24: 3 day hut-to-hut 11.9 mi.  963m ascent, 1654m descent - A descent of the superb Val Travenanzes, which is surely one of the quietest valleys in the Dolomites nestled between the peaks of the Tofana group to the east, and Zimes de Fanes to the west. The walking feels wild and remote  To reach the valley, a steep ascent is required immediately upon leaving the hut to gain the Forcella Col dei Bos, from where the descent of Val Travenanzes begins to a Visitor Centre at the bottom of the valley, We will spend the evening and stay the night in the town of Cortina d'Ampezzo

Day 12 Sat. July 25: Early back to Venice and fly back to Atlanta

NOTE: THE DOLOMITES ARE FILLED WITH SPECTACULAR DAY HIKES AND HUT- TO-HUT TREKS. THE ABOVE ITINERARY MAY BE MODIFIED BY THE LEADERS DEPENDING ON WEATHER AND ACCOMODATIONS AT THE RIFUGIOS.  THE MOUNTAIN HOUSE IS ALREADY RESERVED FOR US.
