Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

The Duncan Ridge Trail runs from Springer Mountain to Blood Mountain on a roller coaster of peaks and valleys and is considered one of the most remote trails in Georgia. Maps of this trail are inconsistant, we have an expected distance of 13-14 miles and an elevation gain between 4500-5200 feet.

Join me as I start at Mulkey Gap and make my way to the intersection of the BMT at Rhodes Mountain. We will be climbing five mountains on the way: Clements Mt, High Top, Payne Knob, Gregory Knob and Rhodes Mt. We will be getting some nice winter views as we make our way. We will eat lunch on Rhodes Mountain before we retrace our steps back to the cars. We will be moving on the high side of moderate with an average rate of 2.75 mph.

This is a difficult, D6 hike. Recent high D5/D6 experience is required! If you do not have the proper experience you will be moved to the waiting list. If your experience is outside of the AOC, please email the trip leader.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $64.80 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

This event ended up being easier than expected... 13.8 miles with 3553 feet of ascent.
