Itinerary:

Let's start 2020 with a brisk, early hike (for those who haven't celebrated too heavily on New Year's Eve!). Because of the faster pace and the terrain, this is not a hike suitable for beginners . We'll hike along the gravel path to the first available trail into the woods, making our way around the middle section of Cochran Shoals and venturing into the Sope Creek unit. We'll get in 6-7 miles in 2.5 hours.

We'll start on time, so allow for traffic, bathroom use (bathrooms are available), and purchasing of a $5 parking pass if you don't have an annual pass. The group will gather at the large metal gate at the trailhead to the gravel path.

Directions

From I-285 East

Take exit 24, Riverside Drive.
Left for 2.3 miles to Johnson Ferry Road
Go left, cross the Chattahoochee and take an immediate LEFT onto Columns Drive.
·Stay on Columns Drive for about 2.6 miles, which will end at the unit.

From I-285 West

Take exit 24, Riverside Drive.
Right for 2.3 miles to Johnson Ferry Road
Go left, cross the Chattahoochee and take an immediate LEFT onto Columns Drive.
Stay on Columns Drive for about 2.6 miles, which will end at the unit.

From GA 9 North (Roswell Road)

Take Roswell Road to Johnson Ferry Road.
Left onto Johnson Ferry Road go about 2.2 miles.
Cross the Chattahoochee River and take an immediate left onto Columns Drive.
Stay on Columns Drive for about 2.6 miles, which will end at the unit.

From GA 9 South (Roswell Road)

Take Roswell Road to Johnson Ferry Road.
Right onto Johnson Ferry Road go about 2.2 miles.
Cross the Chattahoochee River and take an immediate left onto Columns Drive.
Stay on Columns Drive for about 2.6 miles, which will end at the unit
